Synopsis: Luglio 1983. Shaun ha 12 dodici anni, vive con sua mamma, suo padre è morto nella guerra delle Falkland. A scuola è vittima del bullismo ed è considerato da tutti un perdente, proprio in questo periodo turbolento, Shaun si trova sempre più isolato dal resto dei giovani ragazzi e passa le giornate alla spiaggia praticamente solo. Grazie a loro troverà degli amici veri che lo faranno sentire parte di qualcosa e il coraggio che gli è sempre mancato, riuscendo a respingere la timidezza per conoscere Smell, una ragazza più grande di lui.
