A takeaway is someone’s opinion of what they just saw, heard or read. It’s a reference to their bottom-line opinion of the most important basic thing they learned or concluded. You can’t tell someone that their opinion is wrong because an opinion is not a fact. You could say, “I think your takeaway is mistaken. takeaway = something that you get or learn from an experience, activity, etc.: the takeaway from sth: “What’s the key takeaway from this survey?” takeaway = a key fact, point, or idea to be remembered, typically one emerging from a discussion or meeting: “The main takeaway for me is that we need to continue to communicate all the things we’re … English- Wales. A lesson can certainly be new knowledge, not just a correction of a mistake. In that respect, “lesson learnt” and “take away” are fairly synonymous. When buying food in a fastfood or restaurant, there are usually two options: a) If you’re going to eat it in another place or at home, you say to go, and it’s called take-away food. b) Do you have an opposite term for to go, or you simply tell them that you will eat the food inside? No, it’s not common. A cashier at a fast food restaurant would say, “For here, or to go?” We don’t really use “take out” intransitively. We do, however, use take out as a noun: “I’d like to get take out tonight.” In the restaurant context, take out isn’t really a verb, so it wouldn’t take an object. Mexico – Español. Jul 30, 2008. #1.
