È proprio Tarantino, che al Django (1966) di Corbucci si è ispirato per il suo Django Unchained, a raccontare il regista italiano, che ha citato anche nel suo ultimo lavoro, C’era una volta a Hollywood. Grazie a materiali d’archivio e alle testimoniane di chi lo ha conosciuto, il film delinea il ritratto di Corbucci, simbolo di un cinema italiano di un altro tempo, che sapeva imporsi sul commercio mondiale e ammaliare gli spettatori di oltreoceano. Tra le testimoniane raccolte anche quelle di Franco Nero, uno degli attori feticcio di Corbucci, e Ruggero Deodato, che è stato il suo aiuto regia in Django. Il documentario è un omaggio a uno dei grandi nomi della cinematografia nostrana, ma allo stesso tempo cerca di fare un parallelismo tra un regista italiano della vecchia generazione e uno contemporaneo come Tarantino.
