Born into a scholarly family, Huang Yimei grows up surrounded by care and affection, displaying artistic talent from a young age. Early in her career, she quickly gains recognition and meets her partner, Zhuang Guodong. They fall in love but eventually drift apart. This period of professional growth gives her a clearer vision for her future, leading her to return to school for further education. After graduation, she marries her senior, Fang Xiewen. However, their divergent career paths lead to a divorce. Huang Yimei then starts her own business and makes a name for herself in the planning for art exhibitions. During this time, she meets her soulmate, Fu Jiaming, but their love story ends tragically with his passing just a few months later. Despite this, Huang Yimei remains resilient, continuing to strive for a more fulfilling life.

She showed artistic skill at a young age. As soon as she starts working, Huang Yimei becomes well-known and starts to feel something for her coworker Zhuang Guodong. They finally decide against being together though. After graduating, she weds Fang Xiewen, a classmate from her senior year. But as their paths diverge, they ultimately decide to be divorced. Huang Yimei starts her own business and develops into a skilled artist.

Superstitiously terrified of the dark, she begins developing her own folklore about the inky blackness that surrounds her each night; this folklore eventually develops into Ruby's own personal religion, created to ward off the evils that she imagines lurk in every corner. Only by venturing out of her house and rekindling her relationship with her embittered father is Ruby able to exorcise her fears. Almost hypnotic in its stark beauty, Tale of Ruby Rose is proof enough that writer/director Roger Scholes deserves to be far better known.

The film tells the story of how the band came from playing bars on the Sunset Strip in Los Angeles to stadiums across the world and has been compiled from a host of exclusive interviews and the early footage of GNR fan and friend Marc Canter. Interview subjects include Slash, drummer Steven Adler, former manager Vicky Hamilton, Whisky A Go Go owner Mario Maglieri. Marc Canter has also said there is a full-cinema biopic (with actors) in the works.
