A colourised silent film about the massive construction site of the Hämeensilta bridge in Tampere in the years 1928–1929. The film offers a precise and at times a humorous image of the Tampere city centre from nearly a hundred years ago. The four sculptures on the bridge, made by Wäinö Aaltonen, were donated by factory owner Rafael Haarla.

A highway construction project affects the life of many people.

“In Sofia, the residents of a mythical building had been evicted. I had come to hunt for film locations.” After this brief introductory title card, we discover what makes this Bulgarian building mythical, why its residents were evicted and how location-hun­ting turned into a film.

The events revolve around the Rushdie Building in Alexandria, which revolves around a number of terrifying myths and tales, as it is rumored that it is haunted by spirits, and that anyone who approaches it and tries to live in it finds himself in the street, and an evil young man tries to prove the validity of these rumors about architecture.

Heloisa receives a gift: a collection of super-8 films with images of enormous cataracts that once comprised the Seven Falls (Sete Quedas), a natural paradise destroyed by the construction of the world's largest hydroelectric plant, in the early 1980s. The construction of the plant, at the height of the Brazilian military regime, awakens memories of a past immersed in a political authoritarianism. The film starts from the relationship between Heloisa, the filmmaker, and her father, Alvaro, an engineer who had his moment of glory during the Brazilian military dictatorship. They question the political trajectory of Brazil.Projections and maps become the first bridges to connect with the past. However, it is the inescapable present that really strikes Alvaro and Heloisa as they position themselves on opposite sides.

The documentary Building Archeology (jiànzhú kǎo) (2011) considers the more recent past. It’s made up of three vignettes about different buildings in Beijing: a museum, an abandoned hospital, and a detention center. The latter two vignettes are especially interesting. In the second, a woman wanders around the ruins of a hospital built in a week to deal with the 2003 SARS outbreak. The third concerns a former prisoner, tracing out a map of the detention center where he was held in 2011.
