What can we do when art fails? Or when film fails art? Time Passes is Ane Hjort Guttu’s response to such questions. Inspired by Peter Watkins’ Edward Munch, the result is a brilliantly incisive film about not only the artistic process but also time, power and the possibility of living a life of dignity.

Marianne wants to live a boring life. Because from experience, she knows that time goes way too fast when she is having fun. A short film inspired by the cartoonist Jan Stenmark.

A human laughs. And laughing. And watching the clock. How time flies!

The film begins New Year's Eve 1986 at a funeral. The same day the old folks sitting municipality's oldest inhabitants - 103-year-old Elise Olsson - not knowing what day it is. The other old people see the annual reportage from the royal family. At the local dance hall celebrated midnight with the national anthem, and the home of Baron Hans pair and Madeleine Ramels manor held traditional speech before the new year.
