An intriguing stranger tries to bring friends and family members who have been torn apart, together again. As he tries to get others to reconcile their differences, his motives still remain a mystery.

The beginning of 1945, Poland. In a newly liberated country, the Communist Security Service is annihilating its enemies under the guise of punishing "national traitors." They organize a labor camp for Germans, Silesians and Poles, on the site of a former Nazi concentration camp called Zgoda / Reconciliation. Franek, who is in love with the Polish prisoner Anna, goes to work as a warder in the camp to save her. He does not know that one of the prisoners - Erwin, his German friend, also loved this girl for a long time. Franek joins the communists in the illusory hope of outsmarting the system.

Story is based on a novel of the first Slovene female writer from the 19th century when also the story of the film is set. It's a never-ending and forever repeating story of neighbors, who can not reconcile. As they need the fight to stand out for their position of "neighbors", as that's the ultimate and only role of people living next to each other being called neighbors.

In 1998, some young guys arranged a party in Gothenburg. Four guys who did not get into the party wanted revenge and built a fire to spoil the party. The fire spread explosively and 63 young people died and over 200 were injured. Nebil, who arranged the party, was accused of 63 friends' death. He was then 15 years old. He lost his footing in life, became grossly criminal and participated in gang wars in Gothenburg. In 2013 he was shot. Shirin was 14 years old when she went to the party with her two sisters. Both sisters perished in the fire. Her curiosity about the guilty got her to seek them out, to find out what was behind their actions. Danijel miraculously survived. He was in hospital for six months before he came back to life. Then he wanted to be able to do everything that his friends could. But it did not work. Nebil, Shirin and Danijel are three of the young people we will meet, 15 years after the disaster, in Hate and Reconciliation.

A story about the desperation of a man leading a monotonous life. Interacting with people turns out to be impossible, and his routine has alienated his loved ones, among them, his 11-year-old son.

Two friends are pulled apart because of their political choices, which prevents their children, who love each other, to get married, until they realize the vanity of these biased politics.

In reality, they seem to be from different worlds: the meaning of the Day of Remembrance and Reconciliation is understood at best by half of our great country, while the other half celebrates the Soviet-style Victory Day by inertia. We visited different parts of Ukraine and asked the same questions everywhere to find out what the eighth and ninth of May means to each of us.
