A generation ago, Dr Max Warick was researching a mysterious experimental drug which was scientifically proven to cure certain types of madness. But as the most deranged test subjects miraculously regained their sanity, the control patients, who were given no drugs at all, suffered horrific consequences. Because no one could find the cause of such deadly side effects, the experiments were stopped. But now twenty years later, a new set of hospital officials are about to release the drug into the marketplace. And the only man who can prevent this terror from eating away at the masses has since traded in his lab coat for a straight jacket.

The sanitarium run by Lallah Hart (who does not appear in the IMDB cast-list) is in need of repairs and her nephew (Earle Rodney) is broke and after a loan. In her absence (off with her beau) he rents the place out to a group of (presumably) chorus girls (doubling inevitably as bathing beauties) while having to deal with the arrival of his own fiancée (Myrtle Lind) and her parents (the formidable Blanche Payson and Baldy Belmont) who between them provide most of what few laughs there are and a sheriff (Fritz Schade) with a debt to collect.

A group of young paranormal investigators head to Salamanca New York to film their first documentary at Wildwood Sanitarium.

A young man is hired as a guard for an insane asylum. Immediately the inmates start harassing him and he flees. The inmates give chase and they finally capture him and tie him up. The director of the asylum arrives and gives each patient a pie, which they sit down to eat and forget all about the guard.

Arkham Sanitarium was vacant for years after a sex and death cult was arrested for committing heinous acts on patients. Today paranormal investigators are trapped and battling malevolent forces as they grapple with these creatures.
