Continues the journey from the final sequence of Ask the Insects. "Notes About the Sea: Composition on Red and Blue"
Titre original: "Notes About the Sea: Composition on Red and Blue" ( Film )
"Notes About the Sea: Composition on Red and Blue" is a mesmerizing documentary that artfully weaves together guerrilla-style footage and archival material, presenting a poetic narrative of the declining marine ecosystem. Through the eyes of the filmmaker, multiple storylines emerge, mirroring the ephemerality of life's natural rhythms. The film's evocative visuals showcase the stark beauty and harsh realities of a fading world, capturing the profound impact of human activities on marine life. As the sea's vibrant hues of red and blue unfold, so does a poignant call to action, urging us to safeguard the ocean's delicate symphony and restore harmony to its waning composition.

Notes on the Buffalo Conference: “Autobiography in American Independent Cinema”
Titre original: Notes on the Buffalo Conference: “Autobiography in American Independent Cinema” ( Film )
During the 1970s I shot, helped to make, or commissioned about ten document films, mainly about film-makers. This film is one of them. It was made with Dan Ochiva, who acted as cameraman on about half of the footage. I shot the rest, and then edited the film. It is a record of a conference held at the State University of New York at Buffalo on March 22-25, 1973. Among the participants filmed were Gerald O'Grady (who organized the conference), Will Hindle, Stan Brakhage, Jonas Mekas, Robert Creeley, Bruce Baillie, Scott Bartlett, Hollis Frampton, Ken Jacobs, Ed Pincus, Stan Vanderbeek, Ed Emshwiller, Sally Dixon, James Cox. This footage will eventually become part of my film PEOPLE, PLACES, THE 1970S. –R. H.

Matsudaira Tadateru (Shin'ichi Chiba) the sixth son of Tokugawa Ieyasu that was stripped of his title and began life under an assumed name in the Red Light district of Edo. He solves crimes, heals the sick, saves the Geisha from evil Samurai and along the way he teams up with Yagyu Jubei (a role played numerous times by Chiba himself). Awesome Samurai Action.
