He holds a strong conviction that, regardless of the dangers, he will go to accident sites to save lives.

This is Not Me tells the story of unhappy gay men who have had to marry women to hide their sexual orientation in the face of societal and family pressure in Turkey, and their own internal conflicts. The three main characters of the film, Mustafa, Mehmet and Yusuf migrated to Istanbul from small towns and come from conservative families. The film reveals each characters’ world: exhausted from continually playing at social roles and lying about their identity, faltering between their reality and their dreams, frustrated and stuck in their lives. It also looks at the subject from the aspect of women who are the other victims of these marriages. Mehmet and Yusuf, both married to women, act the part of heterosexual males and family men within their own social circles.

Julia Reyes, the precocious and strong-willed teenage daughter of first-generation Mexican immigrants, dreams of becoming a famous writer far away from Chicago and her more traditional parents, who wish she were more like her sister Olga, the platonic ideal of a Mexican daughter. However, when Olga is killed in a tragic accident, it is up to Julia to hold her family together. As Julia seeks to break free of her oppressive home, she tries to uncover her sister’s truth, and in the process gains a deep understanding of the wounds her family carries.

This is Not Me is a detailed depiction of the legal and social labyrinth that promises a slim aperture of freedom.

Meat is Not Murder is a short film narrating the dilemma faced by an animal rights advocate and hardcore vegan when confronted with the possibility of eating cellular-grown lab-made meat. Both funny and gruesome, the film is imbued with an intimate and sensorial relation to images and music, creating an emotional narrative about the making of bodies, whether human or not, in science and preconceptions surrounding what is deemed natural and unnatural. Together with the short film The Ovary, the film falls under the rubric of what I call Medieval Bodies, a set of films echoing contemporary issues surrounding queer reproduction and gestation, fears of artificiality in biotech, and the fluidity between human and nonhuman bodies.
