"Dual of Kung Fu" focuses on action and martial arts, taking the rise of Chinese action movies and the question of epochs as a guide. Learning Drunken Boxing and other Chinese martial arts moves recreates classic action movie scenes and highlights the honing of young actors' acting skills. The whole process of training, cultural exchange and learning, in order to showcase the industry ecology behind action movies, tries to trigger a new round of attention and discussion amongst society about Chinese Kung Fu and action actors.

In the waning years of the Ming Dynasty, the Bruneian Empire offers a rare creature to the nation as a gift. Ocean, a member of the Imperial Secret Police, has been tasked to tame the beast. Though the furry beast appears ferocious on the outside, Ocean discovers that it is kind by nature. Not wanting to turn the beast into a killing machine on the battlefield, Ocean secretly releases the beast into the wild and elopes with Frigid, the daughter of a man executed on false charges.

The stars are cast as a gorgeous woman, a mystic and a kung-fu expert. They team up to form a united front when an insidious empire threatens the well-being of the land they love.

Filmmaker Ian Taylor examines the impressive legacy of Hong Kong cinema -- specifically, how martial arts crossed borders and become an international phenomenon -- with the help of footage and interviews with the stars who made the genre what it is today. Director Lau Ka Leung (who helmed The 36th Chamber of Shaolin) joins in, sharing his thoughts on how certain cinematic technologies have improved martial arts films and expanded their appeal, on the set of Drunken Monkey (2003).

The film takes up the tale of Shaolin students Fong Si Yu and Hung Si Kwan (joined here by a third comrade, Lu Ka Chai) and their efforts to battle Ching oppressors. Their chief antagonist is the Abbot of Wutang who makes it his job to get rid of the three heroes and actually comes up with a clever plan to do so. He creates three exact doubles of the heroes and trains them to fight their counterparts.

14-year-old Jimmy (played by Tyrell Williams) practices kung fu. For the lion dance, which is performed out on the streets, he is determined to hold the head of the lion. But when his teacher, the sifu, announces the new crew, his dream comes crashing down. He has to make do with the tail end, while the talented newcomer Li Jié (Haye Lee) is given the coveted place. Jimmy does all he can to become number one and earn his place up front with the head. But this means he has to defeat a number of annoying bullies, convince the sifu of his qualities and, especially, overcome himself.

Shin-chan is all set to challenge Kung Fu in the Chinatown of Kasukabe city, known as Aiyā Town. He and the Kasukabe Defence Force are going to put up a totally no-stunt Kung Fu challenge on the stage.

Shi Xiaoqun accidentally obtained the "Wordless Book of Heaven", a martial arts manual. The various evil sects fought over it, and was all poisoned by false copies created by Prefect Guo Wenqin. These various martial arts was compiled into another martial arts manual - "Worded Book of Heaven" by Wenqin, and given to Ku'er to master it to do good. On the way to a visit of their uncle in Thailand, Fatty bumps into a young girl named Baiyer. Daughter of a famous anthropologist, Baiyer has in secret possession a golden necklace on which is engraved the map of an ancient treasure by her father. 1930 Manchuria: Seong-Jin, a member of Korean independence army, is arrested and tortured by Suzuki. Seong-Jin’s tells his colleague Min-Wuk the location of funds. Min-Wuk puts the money into the stomach of a dead hog and floats it down the river. Soon, Min-Wuk is captured by Mokosan, a gangster from Peking and Ye-Ji, a barmaid. While Suzuki arrests all of them and kills Mokosan, Min-Wuk, succeeds in arresting Suzuki and escaping, as he continues his journey along the river to deliver the funds.
