When Jonas was 14 he met the charismatic but mysterious Nathan. In addition to guiding him in his sexuality, Jonas soon confronts something dark and even dangerous about his new friend. Now an attractive, sexually assured adult, memories still haunt him. Trying frantically to put the missing pieces together, Jonas becomes determined to break the shackles of the past and finally set himself free.

It uses the teachers and pupils of the school, and stars Christian Ulmen as Jonas. The aim of the project was to capture the influence of an artificial figure in a real space. Made with a subtly wry smile, this is a fascinating study of the school system, puberty, love and music.

Trapped in a place surrounded by the immensity of the sea, a man travels through space interacting with what still gives him life. The sea is freedom, but also confinement. He finds a mangrove tree lying in the middle of the water. Unable to leave, he rests in its shade, and like Jonah, trapped in the darkness, he longs to escape from the depths.

A verité portrait of Jonas Mekas making his daily rounds, JONAS shows us the underground impresario attending a peace rally, filming in Central Park, typing up notes at the Village Voice and projecting his latest rushes at the Film-Makers' Cooperative. A true New Yorker, Mekas seems to be everywhere at once, always with a Bolex camera slung over his shoulder. In detailing these routines, director Gideon Bachmann comes away with a striking time capsule of a city bent on art.

Ottomar Domnick′s experimental feature film is a portrait of the print shop employee Jonas who lives in a large city and suffers from feelings of guilt and fear for his existence. When he finds a hat that bears the initials of a friend that he left during the war when he fled from a detention camp, his sense of guilt becomes a severe paranoia.

After mysteriously washing up on a desolate stretch of coastline, Jonas sheds his sinful past and is guided to the City of Angels. Intuitively, he knocks on the doors of those in need of a powerful message.
