Heavenly Voices tells the story of the castrato phenomenon, and how the most gifted amongst these singers rose to international stardom. Max Emanuel Cencic and Philippe Jaroussky, two of today's singing stars, take us back in time and talk about operatic entertainment in the Baroque Age. This is illustrated by paintings and prints from the time as well as major performances of today. In this film, many countertenors are featured in famous roles and in interviews, amongst them Jochen Kowalski, Andreas Scholl, David Daniels, Daniel Behle and Valer Barna-Sabadus.

Filmed November 7, 2006 at the historic Olympia Theater at the Gusman Center in Miami, Florida, Heavenly Voices spotlights the soaring vocal artistry of Ryland Angel, Giorgia Fumanti, and Sasha & Shawna- four exceptional singers whose musical abilities and training set them apart from their contemporaries- in a remarkable recital of intimate songs accompanied by the Tim Janis Ensemble. While they differ stylistically and vocally from each other, these virtuosi share a singular trait- the warmth and operatic intensity they bring to their individual interpretations. Comedy - This entry in director Jean-Claude La Marre's Pastor Jones series sees the beleaguered clergyman coping with a gap in the church budget. When he can't make a payment on one of the church's loans, the pastor fears he may have to stop funding the choir, and turns to its two lead members (who happen to be quibbling siblings) to help save the day.
