After a terrible streak, the Briones family decides to return to their hometown, Villanueva de los Molinos, that rural arcadia where streams of honey flow and harmony is the currency among its people. Or not. Once there, Santiago, the head of the family, accompanied by his children Damián, Antoñito, Pólar, and Rosendo, will try to adapt to their new life by doing all kinds of jobs, from agricultural tasks to taking care of the mayor’s elderly mother.

After spending five years of her life as a low-paid immigrant, Ninosca is finally granted European res-idence permit. As European citizen she can visit her home in Nicaragua, knowing that she has the right to return to Spain. Her plan had originally been to work for two of years in Spain, supporting her family in Nicaragua. But as circumstances changed, six long years passed. During this time, Ninosca’s encounter with Europe had made her free. Looking back at her home country now, she realises that she will find it hard to live there again. She does not want to return to the man she left behind and to a life of fear and abuse. Ninosca’s children stayed with their father in Nicaragua whilst she worked double shifts to support them and pay for the children’s education. Her daughter Jenny is studied pharmacology and her son Miguel computer and system sciences.

Every year, especially in August, thousands of emigrants return to their villages from France, Germany and other countries of immigration. In 1975 these migrants are faced with popular festivities that are celebrated but, now, also with the political turmoil of the post 25 April. Before the revolution, coming back was only limited to those who left the country legally ...

The emigrants named in the title are notable Germans who left the country before World War II, such as Greta Keller and Grete Mosheim. "8 Poems of Emigration" is a found footage film that focuses on the migration crisis. The film, while focusing on the immigration and immigration issue caused by the wild global capitalism, consists of the images and the found footage from the recording of the work named "8 Poetry of Immigration" that John Berger read to the audience in 2007 at the Fine Arts Center in Madrid. The narrative of the movie is revealed by the conflict between image and sound order. With the out-of-context (misuse) use of commercial images and music, the film creates a critical structure that opposes capitalism.

Over the next three years, some 30,000 managed to emigrate to the United States, settling mainly in New York City. In Austrian filmmaker Egon Humer's brilliant and moving documentary EMIGRATION N.Y., twelve Viennese Jews -- seven women, five men -- recount their lives as children in Austria, as emigrants, as New Yorkers. Deceptively simple in style, the film gathers striking emotional power as its subjects (who include Amos Vogel, co-founder of the New York Film Festival) offer fresh and often surprising views on their experience of exile and assimilation.
