In 1993, a young boy named Emmanuel confides in his parents about being molested by the new village priest, Hubert, but they keep his allegations a secret.

The story line, set with in the year 2050, revolves around an intriguing chase from one city to another. With lead character, a young woman cyclist employed as a courier, in inadvertently found a strange navigation device in the desert. Upon closer inspection, it was discovered the device contained a suitcase with money. The plot thickens, however, unknowingly to her the courier realizes two bandits following the money too.

Francesco Cesena, a middle-aged policeman, while carrying out a routine operation, is involved in a firefight in which his colleague loses his life. Cesena, wounded, shoots and kills the convict and his wife. About a year later two young men, Fabrizio and Simonetta, are arrested for stealing a car. Cesena and his assistant Cane, the same age as the two boys, have the task of interrogating them. Partly out of boredom at the late hour, partly out of curiosity, Cesena makes the two believe they know far more serious things about them than car theft.

'Yoon-il' proves his unwavering love to 'Hana' by cutting off his ear, and sets out to keep cut ear safely stored. However, their journey takes an unexpected turn when they encounter a man who, like Yoon-il, has also cut off his ear.

She contacts a recently started alternative paper, where she is given the proposition of writing an article about the living situation among immigrants. Through her research she meets Marisol, Abeba and her daughter Lucinda, who live in a barrack by the harbor. To help solve their financial troubles, she invites them to live in her large house that she inherited from her grandmother. At first everything works well, but soon the mutual respect between the three women turns into a power struggle and hospitality is replaced with rules and a system of punishments.
