From Oakland to Iceland: A Hip-Hop Homecoming is a documentary about Iceland native DJ Platurn, raised in California and his homecoming tour playing in Iceland where he has lived since the age of 7. The film explores his 3 week tour DJing for his native Icelanders, where he exhibits his talents as a scratch/trick DJ, among other things. DJ Platurn resides in Oakland, California.

Adorno is not just a theorist and philosopher, he was also a composer and student of Alban Berg in Vienna. The text of the short song goes: “What’s driving there, on a cart and stretches out his long trunk?/ It is a mammoth! It is a mammoth! It is a mammoth which wants to go home.”

When Isabelle Wagner takes the plunge to attend her twenty-year high school reunion with her daughter, Sierra, she comes face to face with her past when she is reunited with her former classmate rival, Andrea Turner. When a seemingly changed Andrea insinuates herself into their lives, Isabelle's world comes crashing down and she soon realizes that twenty years hasn't changed Andrea after all.

The styles are varied in this wonderful show, but the quality always high, with renditions of familiar classics along with a few original songs, with some numbers that are truly thrilling, among them the opening song, a bluegrass flavored "It's a Time for Joy" with Karen Peck and New River, the Gaither Vocal Band with David Phelps doing an exquisite tenor solo on "The Christmas Song" (and Mark Lowry doing Johnny Mathis !), "Children Go Where I Send Thee" with The Bishops giving us harmonies from heaven, the country rockin' sound of "Go Tell" with The Martins, and best of all, "Mary, Did You Know ?" (music and lyrics by Mark Lowry and Buddy Green), sung by the Gaither Vocal Band featuring an emotionally stirring solo by Mark Lowry.
