The film was created by teens who worked with an artist mentor over Zoom, using their phones as cameras and cardboard boxes as animation stands. It is a production of The Righteous Conversations Project, a collaboration of Holocaust survivors and teens, based in Los Angeles and founded in 2011.

In an intimate evening of music and storytelling filmed on Sting’s birthday during a run of benefit concerts at The Public Theater in New York City, “The Last Ship” features Sting joined by 14 musicians performing original songs from his critically acclaimed album and Broadway musical of the same name. Inspired by his childhood experiences, “The Last Ship,” is set in the seafaring town of Wallsend in the north-east of England where Sting was born and raised and marks his Broadway debut as a composer. The captain orders everyone to calm down. He decides that he has to get rid of the body, and comes up with a plan to throw Mia’s body in the middle of the sea. But it’s not that simple. Once the ship sets sail, the body hidden in the engine room disappears. Mia’s spirit is set loose and wreaking havoc on the boat in the middle of the sea. The ghost terrorizes the sailors, who can’t escape anywhere except into the water that surrounds them. Things get worse when a storm hits. The only way to save the boat and everyone on it is to locate Mia’s body. But there’s more serious question that no one remembers to ask: Who murdered Mia?
