Popstars – Das Duell was an interactive reality, talent show broadcast in Germany during late 2003. It is the third German series of the international Popstars franchise. Unlike the first two series of Popstars, which resulted in the formation of one winning groups – No Angels and Bro'Sis - Popstars - Das Duell created two rival groups who competed against each other for the most reords saled. This show created Overground and Preluders. This season's catch phrase is "Lebe deine Traum" which means "Live Your Dream". Winners were the male band Overground. From August 11, 2003 - November 3, 2003 there was a special magazine about Popstars on TV called "taff. – Popstars Special" every Monday at 6 pm. The Show consists of 3 phases. First phase is audition phase in which young aspiring singers can apply on six German cities. After the contetstans wer gone through a Casting, a Re-Call and a Re-Re-Call they united in a decision show in which the best 30-40 contetstants were allowed to pass through to the next phase - the Workshop in which two groups were formed. The groups battle in a Roadshow in which both bands promote their single and a tour. After the Roadshow the winning band was crowned in a big Live-Finale on November 3, 2003.

In summer 2001 the German version of Popstars returned with a second installment of the series, this time searching for a mixed-gender musical R&B group. More than 11,000 hopeful singers attended open television auditions in Frankfurt, Cologne, Berlin, Stuttgart, Hamburg, and Munich, conducted by choreographer Detlef "D!" Soost, producer Alex Christensen, and singer and radio host Noah Sow. Over the course of several recalls and re-recalls the three judges and vocal coach Artemis Gounaki reduced the contestants to a group of 32 who immediately travelled to Ibiza, Spain to get trained in singing, dancing, and fitness. In the end three females and five males remained who again moved into a loft in Munich to start working on their performance and publicity skills. During a special episode on 11 November 2001, judges Soost and Christensen eventually disclosed that Ross Antony, Hila Bronstein, Shaham Joyce, Faiz-Kevin Mangat, Verena "Indira" Weis, and Giovanni Zarrella were chosen to become part of the multicultural group Bro'Sis. Popstars Live was an Australian talent quest television program similar to Australian Idol that aired on the Seven Network in early 2004. It also spawned a spin-off single and album that made the ARIA charts in April that year. The show itself was an evolution of the original Popstars series which aired between 2000 and 2002 on Seven. Popstars Live premiered on the Seven Network in February 2004. It was scheduled to run for 16 weeks and was originally slated to air on Sunday and Wednesday nights. During its short run Popstars Live had a troubled history, with two key personnel, Christine Anu and John Paul Young, leaving the program in April 2004 while others have publicly expressed their own concerns about the show. The show was also a ratings failure.

Popstars – Just 4 Girls is the seventh season of Popstars, a German reality TV show, in which young aspiring female singers/dancers compete in order to claim a place in the next girl group. The contestants, who also live together during the course of the series, are groomed and judged by the choreographer Detlef D! Soost, and are judged on their vocal and dancing ability by the rapper Sido and the singer Loona. The grand prize for the four winners is a record deal with Warner Music as well as the opportunity to join the Pussycat Dolls on their next world tour. This is the format for the seventh series, focusing mostly on female dancers/singers, looking for fame in the music industry. The show opened on Thursday, August 28, 2008.
