Miss Spider's Sunny Patch Friends is an animated program based on the children's books by David Kirk, which airs on Nick Jr. in the United States, on Treehouse TV in Canada, and on Discovery Kids in Brazil. Each episode follows the everyday adventures of a family of bugs, who have made their home in what is called the Hollow Tree, led by the gentle, kind-hearted Miss Spider. The spiders Miss Spider and Holley marry and hatch five spiderlings. When one of them, Squirt, discovers a lost chicken egg, he goes on adventure to return it to his mother.

Squirt, Shimmer, and Spinner are playing in the Taddy Puddle when the come across Felix the frog - a sweet-natured amphibian who's tongue challenged. When the little bugs take pity on him an untangle his tongue form a cattail, they discover Felix, unlike other frogs, isn't a bug eater. The bugs and frog become instant playmates and have fun adventures in Sunny Patch while keeping their new friend secret! This special is an extended version from Nick Jr. and features the stories "Secret Frog," "The Big Green Bug" and "Be Good to Bugs...and Frogs!"

Miss Spider's Sunny Patch Kids is a computer-animated television special from Nelvana Limited that premiered on Treehouse TV and Nick Jr. on March 31, 2003. It was based on David Kirk's book series of the same name, and was followed by a spinoff show, Miss Spider's Sunny Patch Friends. Voices included Brooke Shields, Rick Moranis and Tony Jay. The characters are CGI animated insects and arachnids in a relatively natural setting, but with anthropomorphic qualities appropriate for a children's story.
