Mighty Machines is a Canadian children's television show about machines and how they work. It airs on TVO, Treehouse TV and other channels in Canada, including Access in Alberta, the Saskatchewan Communications Network, and Knowledge in British Columbia. It also aired on Discovery Kids in 2005, on Qubo in the U.S., and a French-language version airs on TFO in Ontario and on channels in Quebec. It was nominated for a Gemini Award in 1996 in the category of Best Children's Program or Series. The full series is also available for instant viewing in the U.S. through Netflix and their streaming service.

Allis Tractor Polly the Plow and Haybine team up to make hay while Stretch works his magic keeping hay dry. Meanwhile Mighty Machines are buzzing about the sawmill where Jaws the front-end loader shows how trees are turned into lumber. Jaws may do the heavy lifting but he gets by with a little help from his friends.

Meet Buzz, Stretch and Ranger! it's been snowing all night and the snow removal crew is working hard to clear the streets! "Blower", the big blowing machine gobbles up the piles of snow and shoots it up into the huge dump trucks that haul it away to the dumping station. "Bobcats" scoot up and down the sidewalks, pushing all the snow into the street, while "Big Dude" the snowplow makes nice neat rows for "Blower" to pick up. There's the warning horn! The tow trucks are hauling away the parked cars so the snow removal crew can get to work. The Mighty Machines are working night and day to get the job done. And they love every minute!

Car Wreckers: Chomp on this! At the scrap yard, the squashed cars and other scrap metal go into Shredder, a huge machine that shreds whole cars into little bits! Giant Tow Trucks: Chomp…Crunch…Tear! An oil truck has tipped over and needs help getting back on his wheels. A brand new tow truck is put to the test to see if he knows what he's doing. Can the new Tow Truck do it? Laying Down the Pipeline: This pipeline crew has a special machine called a Skagit. He's a river digger who helps bury the pipeline at the bottom of a river.

Building an Airplane: A jet airplane is one of the fastest machines on the planet. But have you ever seen one being built? It all goes together like a jigsaw puzzle! Once it's assembled, a test pilot takes the jet out for a flight. Will it pass the test? Soon the jet is ready to get to work flying people all over the world.
Ride the Mountain Rails! Work Train is busy keeping the tracks in good shape. It takes the power of three engines to get up the sharp inclines and over the pass. These machines are a special hardy breed, made for the mountain rails.
Reach for the Sky!: Stretch is a crane and his job is to lift things onto the top of very high buildings. He's attached to a truck so he can drive to jobs, but he's so tall that he has to be taken apart in order to fit through the streets. It takes a friend, Yellow Crane, to help Stretch assemble again!

Bringing in the Harvest: At the grape harvest; Clipper takes off the leaves to let the sunshine ripen the grapes while Grape Harvester drives down the rows of plants in the vineyard gathering the grapes. It's a fine harvest this year. At the Steel Mill: Making steel is complicated, but Slab Hauler knows everyone at the steel mill and has offered to take us on a tour. We'll meet a ladle crane, an electro-magnetic crane, a turbo train and even a fire quencher. It takes a whole team of special machines to produce steel. Hot off the Press!: Ever wonder how a newspaper is made? Charlie the printing press is three stories high and as long as a city block! He prints the newspaper, folds it and sends it to customers by truck. Charlie can't do everything himself, he has a team of robots! The machines at the newspaper plant know what teamwork is all about!

The mighty machines of the Can-Am Championship must surely be leading candidates for the title of 'most awesome racing cars ever built'... Some forty years ago they put out over 1000 horsepower in their most-developed form and hit speeds of up to 220mph despite aerodynamics that were experimental at best and highly dangerous at worst! They made the Grand Prix F1 cars of the day look tame by comparison.
