THE LUMINEERS – AUSTIN CITY LIMITS (2023)

Iggy Pop made his Austin City Limits debut, nearly 50 years into his career, Saturday night with an epic hour-long episode that focused on his 2016 album Post Pop Depression. Backed by a powerhouse ensemble that featured Queens of the Stone Age guitarists Josh Homme, Troy Van Leeuwen and Dean Fertita, bassist Matt Sweeney and Arctic Monkeys drummer Matt Helders, Pop’s 11-song ACL episode features the rocker tearing through six tracks from his new LP as well as favorites off his two David Bowie-produced albums, The Idiot and Lust for Life.

This program collects a number of the late singer/songwriter Steve Goodman's appearances on the classic AUSTIN CITY LIMITS television series. R.E.M. recorded this live performance on March 13, 2008 for the television series Austin City Limits and aired on PBS starting March 24, 2008. The DVD release includes three songs not broadcast on the television program—"So. Central Rain (I'm Sorry)", "Fall on Me", and "Imitation of Life."; The setlist is heavy on songs from their upcoming album, Accelerate, but features classic hits "Drive", "Losing My Religion" and "Man on the Moon."

They called him the The Ice Man and The Master of the Telecaster, but above all else, Albert Collins was a consummate Texas bluesman. Ice Man or not, Albert was on fire the night of his taping on October 28, 1991. His performance was a wild ride, and the ACL stage proved too small for his antics, so with his long guitar chord in tow he took off into the audience during his ten-minute-plus finale of Frosty. He was first and foremost an entertainer, but nonetheless belongs up front in the pantheon of great blues guitarists.
