Jack White - Austin City Limits
Titre original: Jack White - Austin City Limits ( Film )
Jack White’s Austin City Limits took on old and new material for his hour long set, visiting tracks from the White Stripes, the Raconteurs, the Dead Weather his solo debut Blunderbuss and covers of Blind Willie Johnson and Hank Williams. White brought out both his all-male and all-female backing bands, the Buzzards and the Peacocks, who took turns helping him out. The rocker capped his intense set with a soothing rendition of the White Stripes’ “We’re Going to be Friends,” but White stomps and rips through the rest of the set.

For music fans, Herbie Hancock needs little introduction. The keyboardist and composer is not only a jazz legend, but also a funkateer, R&B balladeer and technology innovator in music. There are no walls separating the different sides of his musical personality, though – Hancock gleefully mashes all of his interests together into a cohesive whole. We couldn’t have been more thrilled to host him on our stage, and he used his debut Austin City Limits taping to prove exactly why he’s a musical icon.

Titre original: Polyphonic Spree - Austin City Limits ( Film )
Through all the years of Austin City Limits, there probably has never been a night quite like this. From the opening processional through the crowd, through the harp solos, cymbal crashes and rousing choruses, the many members of Polyphonic Spree, all wearing their floor-length choir robes of every color in the rainbow, lifted the show to new heights on that sultry night in August, 2004. It all began four years earlier inside the head of Dallas punk rocker Tim DeLaughter, but not even he knew where his imagination would take him.
Ghostland Observatory: Austin City Limits
Titre original: Ghostland Observatory: Austin City Limits ( Film )
Uncompromising...audacious...frantic...transformative. These are only words, and words alone can t do justice to the phenomenon that is Ghostland Observatory. Experience the inferno of this band s live shows and you ll start to get it. As one pundit quipped, It s tough to believe just two dudes create this monstrosity of sound! Two small-town Texas dudes with very distinct personalities: producer/drummer Thomas Turner, heavily influenced by electronic artists from Daft Punk to Green Velvet and rockers like The Clash, and front man Aaron Behrens, who was singing Jerry Lee Lewis Great Balls of Fire when he was 9 and whose charisma inspires comparisons to Freddie Mercury and Prince. This is their national television debut, recorded July 10, 2007. Ghostland Observatory has created a sound that blends buoyant electronics, drums, hyper driven guitar and ecstatic vocals - dance music that rocks, and rock music with soul. Maybe the best word to describe that sound is BALLSY.
